NO - this is important for your health

Let’s talk about NO—nitric oxide. It’s produced mainly in the paranasal sinuses and is important for every organ.

Take a look at the list below for some of the benefits of NO:
  • It’s a vasodilator decreasing blood pressure.
  • It’s a bronchodilator promoting healthy respiration.
    • NO helps redistribute blood more equally throughout the lungs→better circulation→better oxygenation
  • It works as an anti-inflammatory.
  • It helps the body’s defense against airborne viruses and bacteria.
  • It’s crucial for blood vessel health.
  • It’s associated with healthy circulation and heart.
  • It works as a signaling molecule—neurotransmitter— to support bodily functions.
  • NO is important in the production of surfactant, a substance that allows easier breathing with less friction.

You can increase nitric oxide through diet, exercise, and simply breathing through your nose!

For more information on the role of NO, you can read this article. I highly recommend listening to this podcast of Dr. Hyman with Nobel Prize winner Dr. Ignarro as well.

And remember to use your nose—not your mouth— for breathing!

Stay healthy, stay happy.
